TERDZ — Privacy Policy
TERDZ is a word game (Tetris × Wordle) for the web, iOS, and Android. It is built anonymous-first: you can play, climb the global leaderboards, keep a streak, and battle in Duels without an account, an email address, or any personal information. This policy explains the limited data the app does handle, why, and the choices you have.
The short version
- No email, no password, no real name, no contacts, no precise location.
- No advertising, no ad identifiers, no third-party trackers or analytics SDKs.
- Your identity is a random, opaque device ID — not linked to who you are.
- What leaves your device is what makes online play work: your scores, the game replay we re-simulate to stop cheating, your chosen display name, and (only if you opt in) a notification token.
What we collect and why
| Data | Why | Choice |
|---|---|---|
Device player token — a random, opaque identifier
generated on first launch (playerToken). It is not
derived from any hardware ID and is not tied to your identity. |
So your scores, streaks, and history belong to “you” across sessions without requiring an account. | Reset by uninstalling, or clearing app data / site data. |
| Display name — a nickname you choose and can edit. | Shown next to your entries on the global leaderboards. | Optional and editable; you pick what it says. |
| Optional account — a recovery handle plus a SHA-256 hash of a recovery code you choose. We never store the code itself, and there is no email or password. | Lets you restore your history (and any cosmetic purchases) on a new device. | Entirely optional — only created if you sign in. |
| Gameplay results — scores, daily/streak results, and the deterministic input replay of a run. | The server re-simulates each replay with the same engine to verify the score is legitimate (anti-cheat) before it ranks. | Submitted when you post a score or play a Duel. |
| Notification token (APNs / FCM) — only if you turn on Daily reminders or re-engagement notifications. | To send the one opt-in evening reminder when a streak is at risk. | Off by default; one tap to enable or revoke in Settings / OS. |
Stays on your device
Your settings (audio, haptics, handedness, reduced-motion), local high scores, and any cosmetic-purchase entitlements are cached locally and are not uploaded.
Who processes it
- Cloudflare — hosts the game and the backend (Workers, Durable Objects, D1, KV) that store leaderboards, streaks, accounts, and Duel state. Data is processed at the edge.
- Apple / Google — only when you use their platform features: push notification delivery (if enabled) and, where offered, in-app purchases. Purchases are handled by the store; we receive a purchase confirmation, never your payment details.
We do not sell or share your data, and we run no advertising.
In-app purchases
Any purchases are cosmetic only (visual packs, tile skins, effects). The core game and the Daily Drop are free forever, and purchases never affect scoring, fairness, or matchmaking. Entitlements are tied to your device token / optional account so you can restore them — no extra personal data is collected to make that work.
Children
TERDZ is suitable for a general audience. The in-game dictionary is filtered to remove slurs and strong profanity. We do not run behavioural advertising and do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Retention & your choices
- Reset your data: uninstall the app or clear app/site data to drop the device token. Without an account, that effectively disconnects you from the stored scores tied to that token.
- Account deletion: email the address below from the account and we will delete the associated handle, scores, and replays.
- Notifications: revoke at any time in Settings or your OS notification controls.
- Access / GDPR / CCPA: because we hold almost no personal data, requests are simple — contact us to access or delete what is tied to your token or account.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, note it in the app.
